About the event

Water quality and quantity risks are barriers to meeting many of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); however, the tendency is to park anything 'water' into SDG #6 (Clean Water & Sanitation).

But what about the need for water to run a small family restaurant or food processing business in Morocco (SDG 1 - No Poverty), agriculture/aquaculture food production in Indonesia (SDG 2 - Zero Hunger),  a family's health in Nicaragua (SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-being), urban flooding in Bangladesh (SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities), water-intensive manufacturing/production in Vietnam (SDG 12 - Sustainable Consumption & Production), or flooding/drought in Angola (SDG 13 - Climate Action)?

Simply put, water is an antagonist in many rooms beyond SDG 6, and inhibits well-intentioned efforts to effectively meet the room's respective goal (ie: poverty, hunger, health, etc)

Join this invite-only in-person NYC luncheon to unpack the SDG 6 status-quo, and learn where and how technology innovations are helping accelerate certain Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by addressing some type of water quantity or quality risk in that 'room'.  More details on SDGs here

While public policy is important, this luncheon program will offer participants short snapshots on where/how hardware, software, and business model innovations can mitigate water risk in each of the aforementioned SDG rooms, including tangible examples, especially the first 3 goals, no poverty, zero hunger, and good health and well-being.

Agenda:

11:30AM - Networking

12:00PM - Welcome remarks

12:10PM - Informal lunch

12:30PM - 10-minute snapshot of  "water the protagonist" in SDGs 1, 2, 3, 11, 12, and 13.

1:30PM - Group discussion, where are the collaboration opportunities?

2:00PM - Event concludes.

Naturally, SDG 6 will come up, but it is not the focus of this luncheon.

The intention of this event is to add perspective to the SDGs, not to critique the mission or practical value.  The UN SDGs have been an excellent framework for humanity to understand and act on modern problems.   The barrier role of 'water' in many of the SDG rooms will be a topic we will be discussing well into the future, and this luncheon hopes to bring like-minded people together.
