CLIMATE ADAPTATION TECH FUND
We are backing early-stage companies with innovations that help industry & society prepare-for, adjust-to, and ultimately deal-with water-risks in our new climate reality
Our new climate reality
Efforts to mitigate carbon emissions will undoubtedly continue; however, we must also prepare to adapt to a new climate reality that many are reluctant to acknowledge. Call it gloomy or defeatist if you will—we see it as a pragmatic strategy to help countries, companies, communities, investors, farmers, and families navigate and endure the challenges of the coming decades.

Focused on water-risk
Climate change is driving massive risks, including wildfires, extreme temperatures, severe winds, and the spread of pests or invasive species. Equally critical, however, is addressing the growing water-related risks faced by industries and communities. These risks encompass both water quantity risks—such as sea level rise, river flooding, water scarcity, and drought—and water quality risks—including harmful algal blooms and saltwater intrusion.
Is this 'the water industry;?
This goes beyond what is traditionally considered the “water industry.” It’s about tackling the broader business of water risk, which takes Mazarine Climate into sectors like finance, insurance, and real estate (FIRE); agriculture & aquaculture; ports, harbors, and marinas (PHM); power generation; and many other industries directly impacted by climate-change-induced water risks.

Democratization of solutions
Currently, access to innovations to climate-change-induced water-related risks is largely limited to big corporations, governments, and the wealthy, leaving others at a disadvantage in addressing flooding, drought, algal blooms, etc. Mazarine Climate is leading the way in democratizing these capabilities, pioneering the “QuickBooksization” of solutions. This approach empowers everyone—regardless of size or financial resources—to effectively manage and adapt to their unique water-related risks.

Investment Thesis
Invest in early-stage companies with innovations that democratize climate adaptation by enabling more people to take an active role in dealing with water risks in our new climate reality.
This Fund's portfolio companies have innovations that lower the barriers for everyone, big and small, individuals, businesses, and governments alike, to access the data and tools they need to minimize the impact of our changing water reality.

Dealflow
This fund's investments fall into 3 primary verticals:
• Observe: Technologies that enable us to SEE, measure, and monitor water quantity/quality risks.
• Analyze: Technologies that help us UNDERSTAND and interpret water quantity/quality risks.
• Address: Technologies that help us physically ACT ON, or do something about the water quality or quantity risk identified.
While many of the companies in our dealflow may identify themselves as ag-tech, water-tech, insur-tech, fin-tech, prop-tech, ec, Mazarine views them through the lens of ClimateTech (SDG13) — but on, the adaptation side, rather than the decarbonization side of "Climate Action"
